Samsung is a well-known brand around the world for manufacturing popular phones in the low to mid-range category. Now after a spate of launches of phones that were featuring the Android and Bada platforms, Samsung has launched the new Samsung Omnia 7, the company’s first ever Windows Smartphone.
Despite this being the first smartphone from Samsung that belongs to the Windows series, the phone shows no decrease in the amount of features that it comes packed with. For starters, this phone features the latest super AMOLED screen technology on the 4 inch touch screen display. As a result, the phone makes the new OS from Windows look like in a class of its own. The new OS from Windows has something that Microsoft calls as ’tiles’. These tiles act as hubs of information. The large screen brings out the best of the tiles.
It is not just the screen that the phone is focused on, as it has a great 5 megapixel camera that also allows HD video recording, to do the job in this phone. The overall result is fantastic, as the camera combines beautifully with the screen to give rich and vibrant images. The phone, as it runs on the Windows OS, gives access to Zune Hub and Windows Live, which enables you to get all your favourite music and also stay in touch with your friends. You also have Xbox live connectivity, meaning that you can also enjoy the latest games directly from the Web, without having to store any file in the phone itself.
The phone has connectivity options like 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to help you connect with a nearby internet connection or multimedia device. The phone is set to be launched in the United Kingdom this week and should have a price tag of around £35 a month on T-Mobile contracts.
