Samsung Galaxy S II vs iPhone 4S: Design and User Interface

Now that both Samsung Galaxy S II and iPhone 4S has been released to the market, tech enthusiasts can finally compare the strength and weakness of both phones. Fanatics from both sides always compare their devices and there has been much debate on which is the best smartphone nowadays. Even though the highly anticipated iPhone 5 will not be released anytime soon, iPhone 4S is still a great smartphone that is worth to buy.

First off is the design. The first impression of a digital device will always be judged from its external appearance because no one would buy an ugly smartphone even if it has the latest technology. The design of the Samsung Galaxy S II is very much improved and the design is far sleeker and high-class looking compared to the Samsung Galaxy S. the Galaxy S II also has a larger screen (4.52-inch display) but even with the increase in display size, the phone is still relatively lighter than the previous versions.

iPhone 4S in the other hand is almost indistinguishable to its predecessor on the design, except for the ā€˜S’ symbol at the back of the phone. It may not be prettier, but the iPhone 4S is still one of the best looking smartphones in the world if it is being judged from its design. Every aspect of a good smartphone design is embedded into the iPhone 4S and it can be said that no other competitors can nudge Apple from its throne, yet.

However, the user interface of the iOS is still the best, hands down. With the addition of Siri, iCloud and others, the iOS 5 is still the king in both design and applications being provided. The Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS still has the complexity that may not be favourable to those who hates exploring countless things, even though they are much more improved compared to the previous versions. However, some polishing still needs to be done and maybe then the Android OS can finally be on par with the iOS.

In conclusion, both smartphones have their specialty and weakness but both are still a great device to be owned. However, Samsung Galaxy S II is said to be a bit pricey compared to its counterpart so if you are ok with having a new phone with an old design, you can buy the iPhone 4S.
