So, Smartphone industry have come a long within the last one year which tells us the fast paced growth of this tech craving era. Sony Ericsson has played its role pretty well when it comes to those ‘smarties’ around. So do they have in stock for the next wave? It’s another Xperia, named Xperia Sola.

Sony Ericsson has provided a 3.7 inch ‘reality display’ with the Sola, which more or less tries to match with Apple’s retina display. The device comes with an 854 x 480 pixel resolution with a scratch proof screen. The power packed smartphone runs on 1GHz STE U 8500 dual core processor. The Android 2.3 platform based phone is equipped with a 5 megapixel primary camera that holds a 720p video capturing ability and also 2D/ 3D panoramas. Sola is also equipped with Sony’s ‘Floating Touch’ and A 3d surround sound technology. The floating touch by Sony is a finger tracking software which can be used to highlight texts over the screen by just hovering your fingertip over the content, rather than touching the whole length of the characters on the screen. Even though the purpose behind ‘floating touch’ is not a serious usage by smartphones users, Sony seems like have added an extra feature that no one else offers so far in this tech market.

So what makes Sola unique among the powerful competitors around these days? Sola is NFC enabled and gets shipped with 2 NFC tags preloaded with profiles for the living and bed rooms. Once you enter these rooms, you can just swipe on these profile options on your Sola’s screen and can have a variety of features and options enabled on your phone. Take for example, your bedroom: phone needs to be in silent mode for getting a proper sleep, whereas you need your alarm to ring on time in the morning, for which NFC helps you. You can also have few others loaded for your car, work place etc, all of which will aid in a wonderful user experience. Setting up NFC’s automatically is also possible through Sola’s location based tracking, which unless battery drain is not an issue for you, is never advised.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Sola, which is expected to arrive in Red, Black and White colors is sure going to create waves among the loyal Xperia lovers out there and even with the geeks in search of a better platform to switch into!

It’s not always in comfort zones that we listen to music, watch a video or do just any other work that requires some concentration. We do have noises surrounding us, mostly. So how are we going to get rid of these unwanted intrusions? So far, the best solution is to have something that cancels the noise and that’s where we got to think about the Noise Cancelling Headphones. Let’s take a closer look at two such fresher’s in the market – Able Planet’s ‘Clear Harmony’ and ‘Sound Clarity’ Noise Cancelling Headphones.

Harmony is packed with the Patented Linx noise cancelling technology. The headphones come with a pretty comfortable physique. It’s an over the ear type, soft padded to add on to the comfort. Except the ear padding, the gadget is mostly plastic bodied, which makes it a light weighted bulky looking headphone. The device color is a mix of black and silver, where the headphones’ adjuster and ear pads comes in black coating and silver is given to the sides of the earpiece where the Able Planet’s logo appears. Harmony’s noise cancellation is powered via two AAAA batteries. Apart from being used as a noise cancelling headphones, Harmony can also be used as Passive headphones while it is turned off or when the battery dies. The size of the pads are done in such a way that it can easily fit for individuals with large sized dome. The left headphone carries the headphone jack as well as the power switch. As with the amplitude and frequency range of Harmony, users are pretty much impressed over prolonged hours of usage as well. Harmony’s noise cancelling ability can be ranked as the one with mid to low frequencies.

Able Planet has to its credit also another noise cancellation headphone that comes with a light price tag. Able Planet’s around the ear noise cancelling sound clarity headphones even though is a less expensive version using the Linx technology is able to have optimal sound quality and also speech clarity with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20 KHz. Unlike ‘Harmony’ the ‘Sound Clarity’ has a black and chrome finish. The active noise cancellation switch on the left earphone, puffy ear pads and light weighted adjuster all goes the same for both of them.

Both ‘Harmony’ and ‘Sound Clarity’ comes with a carrying case and removable chord with stereo adapters. The difference in the noise cancelling ability puts one ahead of the other which puts the former into the market with a price tag over USD 300 and the latter with a tag of USD 100!

Digital cameras are plenty in availability out there in the market. Customers now a day’s get confused on what to look for in one such device. If you are not looking into the seriousness of an SLR or DSLR, you can cut short your decision into the usual digital cameras. They all come with a load of specs and tech advancements to preserve your memories in stills and videos. So if you have decided to get one for yourself, why not try something that can offer a bit extra than what others do? Yes, that’s what the S 1100 PJ of the Nikon’s projector camera series has to offer.

Nikon S 1100PJ is a simple, portable, friendly digital camera with an in-built projector. We have few such image projecting gadgets that are handy used by professionals and business owners. Nikon S 1100 PJ equalizes its use as a digi cam and a mini projector, even though both the functions have a symbiotic relationship. As with the tech specs, the S1100 has got a 14 mega pixel ability with 5x optical zoom. There is a 3 inch Resistive LCD touch screen that allows the users to easily navigate through the entire camera functions. Few functions such as video controls, play button and scene mode controls are the ones that have a physical presence on the device hardware. Nikon S 1100 PJ supports SD and High Capacity SD cards for storage. The battery life is cream for the camera as projector consumes quite a lot of its energy. But for an average user, the life span of a single charge can easily extend up to 200 image shots and a projecting time of 15 to 20 minutes.

The Nikon S 1100 PJ is finished in an attractive matt look where ninety percent of the body gets a silver touch. The lens and the projector come with a protective ring surrounding them. The position of the projector at the extreme top middle portion of the cam gives your images a perfect projection on any surfaces. If you find it difficult to project your images or videos by keeping the device on a flat surface, you can always make use of the small plastic tab provided at the bottom to slightly slant the camera position.

Nikon has clearly envisioned the projector-camera series and its seems like Nikon S 1100 PJ will easily fit into a niche market, in search of gadgets that stands up with a ‘bit extra’ in everything that it has to offer.

What does a phone mean to you? Ah, that sounds more or less like a silly question, isn’t it? Yes, maybe for most us, it’s just a device for communication and of course a lot more with those smart phones around! But, there is a crowd out there where a phone can build up a lifestyle, a personality something just above all the tech specifications that the gadget could boast of. This is where a Nokia Ora fits in! Finished in 18 carat pure gold Nokia Ora falls into that category of ‘techs’ where precious metals and stones houses the functions, which have seen with watches, camera’s, cars and many such machines and devices.

The phone is just a modified version of the earlier released Nokia C7. That means, you still have to play around with the Symbian platform for your OS. Being said so; a peeking into the technical specs won’t be appreciable. So let’s see what it is with this gold thing. Nokia Ora C7 gets a weight of 132 gms with the 18 Carat gold in its housing, bezel and function keys. There is this Sapphire used in the main menu button which makes it a true collector’s item. Well, they do have a white and gold Bluetooth headset and fine finish Scottish Cow leather in the rear, which all adds on to the ‘wow’ thing.

So a bit about the specs is that, the Oro comes with a 3.5 inch AMOLED touch screen with a picture resolution of 360 x 640 of resolution. A notable change from the C7 is that the applications and the theme in default is of a golden appearance which adds on to the fine finish of the hardware. The drawback with this is that, any additional applications used can simply spoil the whole idea of feeling gold. With camera, Nokia has incorporated an 8 mega pixel one with a fixed lens. With connectivity HSDPA, WiFi or Bluetooth can be of your pick.

Nokia Oro is certainly not a commoner’s phone. You definitely need to have a lifestyle where Nokia Oro can enhance it. It’s a device where price tag is of no or less concern and if yes, of course you can get more than two Nokia N8’s for the price. So Nokia Oro can be yours if you cherish the dream of such a lifestyle where ‘possessions’ play a vital role.

Microsoft has come with their latest Windows 7 OS named ‘Mango’ for its Smartphone users and is expected to have an initial launch with Fujitsu in Japan. Major players Nokia, HTC, Samsung and LG being aimed at the second stage Microsoft’s Mango is currently undergoing OS testing and compatibility with manufacturers.

One thing for sure with Microsoft is that, they are no more bringing in explosive ideas to the OS market; they rather focus on making the existing OS function better. Mango’s home screen which acts as its Start screen is equipped with the usual access apps such as social status, mails, text, agenda, weather etc. Mango has ‘People Hub’ where friend lists are more just a list of contacts, instead is an up-to-date hub of a person’s social presence. The unification of the message inbox where the user can segregate personal, work and social messages is also such a similar application as the Hub.

Mango’s Picture hub boasts of its ability to collect your entire photos and even the ones posted by your friends on social networks. The system’s Games hub is another noteworthy point where gamers can go online through Xbox to meet other gamers. Media Hub holds the music and Video collections among the personal computer wireless sync. The office hub catches many eyes as most of us are pretty much used to have played around with Microsoft Office tools. You can have your word, excel, OneNote, SharePoint and PowerPoint on Mango OS.
One breakthrough for Mango is the built in Bing which assists user with web searches and maps. Marketplace Hub can actually scan barcodes to access relevant info regarding a product or service online. The hub can locate and suggest places of interests such as shopping centers, food and beverage outlets, commuter stations etc. It works more or less like an active GPS connection.

Mango uses IE9 Browser, which runs instantaneously and can undergo multitasking. Last but not the least, Mango comes with superior user security settings, where the owner can locate the phone remotely in case of loss or theft. He or she can also lock and erase critical data from being accessed.

Mango after its successful testing with manufacturers is expected to hit the recovering Windows Phones with a boost. The rebirth of Windows gadgets on move seems like getting catalyzed with the initiatives like Mango from Microsoft!

Telecommute is the in thing in this era because companies want to save more on expenses while maintaining or increasing work productivity at the same time. However, implementing telecommuting can be a pain in the back. This is because the company will need to trust the employees who are doing their work at home and pray that they will be more productive. However, some people do not prefer working at home because of the many distractions that can occur while working.

To see a bigger picture of this situation, enjoy the survey results that were done just recently to show the real deal of telecommuting.

From exactly 1074 respondents, a staggering 83 percent of them work remotely at least a part of the day. This is a big jump from the statistics three years ago where just 43 percent of respondents worked remotely. With the progress, this shows that virtual office will be something common in five years’ time.

Telecommuting is not something that is not accepted by workers. In fact, just 11 percent of respondents do not consider telecommuting as one of the main perks in working. This shows that workers prefer to work at home and they are even ready to forgo some of the benefits that can be enjoyed while working at the office. 78 percent of them will forgo free meals at the office for telecommuting while 54 percent of them will pay for their own handphone bill in exchange for working at home.

Even though workers nowadays prefer to work from home, they still realize the need of a collaboration software. This is to increase the communication between team members and make sure that all the projects’ milestone can be achieved. Only one percent of respondents think that these softwares are unimportant in doing their work from home.

Another great benefit of using the collaboration software is that it reduces the time spent on social networks sites. A study shows that telecommuters will spend less than sixty minutes per day at Facebook, Twitter or Skype.

However, private and confidential data sharing is the main concern for telecommuters. This is because expert hackers can easily intercept the data shared and they can use it for their own gains. Telecommuting can also be a problem for work performance. The boss of the company can only measure the employee’s work only by the outcome and continuous review cannot be done.

However, it is believed that the rapid changes in technology will be able to overcome the many concerns of working from home in two or three years’ time. Therefore, university students nowadays must be able to adapt to the new working environment which is inside their own bed!

The Start screen is also customisable by the user with nine different colours and five refreshing patterns to choose from.

Closing the Start screen, you will be redirected to the normal desktop screen where no glaring changes that can be seen aside from the Start button. Using Windows 8 with keyboard and mouse might just be the same as using the Windows 7. The real, brand new experience can be achieved if you have a touch screen monitor. You can easily drag and drop a shortcut on desktop to other places or the Recycle Bin with only your touch. The pinch-to-zoom feature also works flawlessly while browsing photos. On screen keyboard is also available and it is really responsive to touch you made.

Another great feature of the all-new Windows 8 is its Metro apps. They are a group of applications which are optimized for use in Windows 8. Some of the apps are Bing Maps, Zune, Xbox Live, The People and The Mail. If you still remember the Pinball game you always play in the old version of Windows, it has been upgraded with a 3D look which looks marvellous and fun.

If you are transferring a file from a place to another, you will be shown a real-time graph on how fast the file is transferred. File transfer speed is considerably faster and you can easily transfer a couple of files to different places in shorter time.

Those who have a Windows Live account will profit the most while using Windows 8. This is because the system will automatically retrieve your contacts, calendar and messages from Windows Live into your PC. Integrating Facebook, Twitter and other social network sites will also be a breeze. Windows 8 is a really promising OS by Microsoft and with the many new features provided, you will be longing for it now!
