Acer Aspire S3, A MacBook Air Copy?

With its sleek design and really slim-built, it would be pretty easy to mistake Acer Aspire S3 as a Macbook Air. The premium and professional look that has been delicately carved onto the surface of the laptop are really great for the eye and the machine’s performance is pretty good for a notebook under the $1000 range. With its beauty and top-notch performance, it may not be appropriate to call these types of machines as laptops anymore; ultrabooks are a proper name to put these machines to go above the normal definition of laptops.

The main attraction of Acer Aspire S3 will be its design. Not only lightweight and a candy for the eye, this 13-inch ultrabook can give a pretty challenging performance to the Macbook Air. Not to mention that you can buy two Acer Aspire S3 for the price of one Macbook Air. Acer Aspire S3 will be a really affordable product for those who can only wish to have a Macbook Air.

Equipped with Intel Core i5, the second fastest Intel processors, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM and 20GB Solid State Disks, the performance of Acer Aspire S3 is nothing but magical. Even though the graphic card is just a default Intel HD Graphics, it is expected that newer models will have better graphic card specifications for hard core gamers.

However, Acer Aspire S3 also fall short on some aspects. The first thing is that even though it looks sleek, the construction is quite disappointing compared to the MacBook Air. It does not feel solid and is a step below the superpremium level. The WiFi connectivity is also limited which is a real shame in this era where internet connection is a must in life. USB3.0 is also absent from the machine and the resolution of the display is also lower than any other ultrabooks. The battery consumption rate is also one of the main concerns of the laptop, where the usage time also falls a bit short from the Macbook Air.

In conclusion, Acer Aspire S3 can be a great substitute for a MacBook Air if you are ok with some of its flaws. It is not saying that Acer Aspire S3 is a bad ultrabook, in fact, it is a great one with great performances. However, Acer still needs to improve on quite a number of issues that prevent the Acer Aspire S3 from becoming a totally awesome ultrabook.
